Growing up, whenever something went missing, got broken, or no one wanted to admit who was responsible, my dad would jokingly ask, “Who did it? Did Lekish do it?” Lekish wasn’t actually anyone. It was simply one of those silly family sayings that stuck around for years and became part of our family.
After losing my dad, I wanted to create something that kept a little piece of him, and that memory, with me. And so, Lekish Did It was born.
Each journal begins with a vintage or previously loved book that I find and give a completely new life. I take it apart by hand and rebuild it into a one of a kind journal filled with a mix of pages for writing, planning, making lists, saving memories, doodling, or whatever else you decide to do with it.
No two are exactly alike. The books may show their age, with worn corners, little marks, or other signs of their previous lives, and that's part of what makes them special. Instead of ending up forgotten on a shelf or discarded, they get to become something useful and loved all over again.
I also create handmade bookmarks, pens, pouches, and other little extras to make each journal even more fun and personal.
Lekish Did It is a little bit nostalgic, a little bit imperfect, and made with a whole lot of love.
And every time I see the name, I get to think about my dad.
